Background

The epilepsy group held its exploratory meeting on 20 January 1996 at the Istituto Mario Negri, Milan, Italy and formally registered with the Cochrane Collaboration on 1 September 1996. The first meeting of the group took place in September 1996, at The Hague. This was an open meeting intended to encourage new review authors. The first meeting of the group's editorial board took place in July 1997 in Dublin, Ireland.

Members of the board are kept informed about the day-to-day work of the group by regular e-mails and an editorial bulletin which is produced quarterly.
